DEERFIELD BUILDING DEPARTMENT APPEARS CORRUPT: If governence is required, they should fulfill their duties

Builders get free passes on ignoring Village ordinances that homeowners nevr get.
A builder of a new house on Kingston Terrace paid off the Deerfield building department to not abide by the Village's required sertback from the sidewalk and passed their foundation pour that violated Village building code. It took a neighbor with a petition of signatures to get the Village to actually enforce their own code and get the bulder to have their foundaton abide by Village codes.

When we added a side apron to our driveway, we were required setback from the property line. The new house next door from a builder installed that driveway right up to the property line.

We had a generator installed with two issues: a national electric code violation and an improper installation according to manufacturer specs. Deerfield Building Department accepts no responsibility for passing inspection of an obvious NEC violation of undersized service wiring as noted by Generac technicians, and they refuse to enforce proper installation of their residents' $$$$ appliance purchases with installations through required Village permits.

We had a solar PV system installed in 2022 and the Village of Deerfield passed installation inspection with obvious national coder violations, with loose panels coming off their framing.
OUR SOLAR STORY

When a resident pays the building department for permits and inspections, they risk having them neglect issues at inspection and leave behind code violatons that could cost a resident more money later.

GOVERNMENT ISSUES:

Dan Shapiro is the Mayor of Deefield - but was not elected. He ran uncontested and that is the only reason he is there.
Mayor Shapiro prefers photos ops over actual service to the community and concern over residents' welfare, an ethical building department, or a police department without corruption.

Former Mayor Harriett Rosenthal was a far more effective mayor who, unlike Mayor Shapiro, actually responds to residents' concerns.

We have evidence of how Deerfield Schools VIOLATING CIVIL RIGHTS, have showing bias toward Jewish students and Jewish parents in several instances.
This has been reported to The State of IL.

POLICE DEPARTMENT ISSUES:

Police falsify reports.

There is video proof of police cruisers violating stop signs without cause.

I tried to report a parking violation near my home that had caused a serious hazard of a driver blindspot at a public street 90-degree curve with its crosswalk in that bend behind a school. That's why there are "no stop, stand or park" signs posted there. Negligence of the offending driver could have resulted in the death of a small child in that serious traffic curve blind spot. I took photos and sent them to the Deerfield Police Chief. But instead of forwarding my complaint to traffic enforcement as I had requested, he instead insisted that I meet with him (again) in person the next day for some reason.

A Deerfield police officer conspired with prior violators of village ordinances in a neighborhood by accepting false complaints without any evidence in order to push a petty citation into court, using Deerfield's prosecutor in a county court and not the county prosecutor. Deerfield Police neglected to inform or hear the side of the stories from the alleged offenders of false neighbor complaints filed with the police over unsupported allegations and hearsay without evidence.

Deerfield Police pushes back on residents instead enforcing a IL State law or ordinances concerning public safety.

Lake County IL Sheriff John Idelburg refuses to address these issues.

Mayor Shapiro and the Deerfield Police Chief won't return phone calls or emails about these issues.

DEERFIELD SCHOOLS UNFAIRLY PROFILE PARENT CAREERS:

A pro electrician volunteered their unpaid time to come in to Walden Elementary School and teach a class about home electrical and safety. The professional electrician never received any thanks or gratitude at all from the teacher, students, or anyone at Walden School.
However, after a doctor came in to Walden Elementary School and taught the same class, every student in that class was required to write a personal note of thanks to that doctor. Why? Because the doctor was Jewish and the electrician was not? One career deserves respect over another in front of third graders?

OTHER ISSUES:

In 2018, A-Lamp was contracted to redo Deerfield Road which took two years. Why? A-Lamp was a street repair company and was not prepared with enough staff and equipment to take on such a large job. Deerfield had engaged the cheapest contractor they could find at the expense of residents having to tolerate 2 years of construction whereas a truly professional company would have completed it in one year. Thanks to Mayor Shapiro and the inept - and potentially corrupt - Village Board.
